Apparently Vitamin C is for more than just avoiding colds. This valuable vitamin is a powerhouse of other benefits as well. Recently a bunch of researchers at Arizona State found out that low Vitamin C levels are directly linked to higher waist measurements, higher BMI, and higher blood fat levels! They found that people with higher Vitamin C were slimmer with lower blood fat levels overall. The researchers are still trying to pinpoint whether or not obesity actually hinders your blood levels of Vitamin C, or if higher levels of C meant that you were less likely to become obese.
Apparently much of this has to do with a relationship between Vitamin C and L Carnitine. For any of you who have read my ‘diet pills’ article, L Carnitine is an important component for fat loss. L Carnitine energizes the cells to burn fat, and in turn Vitamin C in proper levels helps the body to maintain proper levels of L Carnitine. So…not getting enough Vitamin C will soon sap you of energy and make it more likely that your body will store more fat.
Because it’s such an easy fix, adding Vitamin C to your regimen may be right for you. Increase your intake of the right fruits and veggies, and take a supplement.
To Your Health,
Tracie
