Those of you who know me well know that I have a history of migraines. I have tried everything under the sun to get rid of these things. They started happening to me about 4 years ago for whatever reason and they have been recurring ever since. The frequency of them used to be weekly, but with magnesium supplementation I had them down to about once or twice monthly. I had read about how magnesium helps with migraine, so I supplemented with about 500mg of it a day…at least I think that was the dosage.
What I have discovered is that many of us are deficient in this all important trace mineral. We don’t really get it in our diets..so we walk around deficient. Magnesium plays such an important role in many body functions..not just migraine. The cause of my migraines was toxicity, which magnesium helps to lessen. It also helps with allergies, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, ADHD, irritable bowel syndrome, low stomach acid [leading to ulcer], and other things too.
Well, my new regime with Wheat grass [high in magnesium], has increased my magnesium levels enough that now I don’t get migraines! I haven’t had a migraine in over a month. That’s a record!!!! It’s amazing to me that I supplemented with it for a year in vitamin form, but I was still low. I also once weekly soak in an Epsom salts bath [one cup Epsom salts in a nice hot bath] to further soak up some magnesium through my skin. It’s wonderful.
As I have read up on this magnificent nutrient, and I am now educated about its effect on allergies and asthma, you can bet I am going to start supplementing my kids…both have occasional issues with allergies, one with a history of asthma. I did try giving them wheat grass but found out rather quickly that idea was NOT going to fly with these kids.
So…supplementation and baths most likely will be the route I choose.
Yours in Health,
Tracie
