Are we really healthier than we were a millenia ago? As we continue to go down the path we are on, chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and stroke plague us. We are getting sicker! We can blame our lifestyles for this gradual change in our health over the years. The rush to get to the next big thing has us driving through McDonald’s [insert any fast food chain here] on the way to soccer practice. Do we really think that those chicken parts fried in oil are healthy? Okay, get them with apples and milk and at least it’s not THAT bad, right?
After a lifetime of eating polyunsaturated fats, processed bleached white flour, sugar, sodas, and manufactured boxed food, we have caused our own demise.
Not only are our eating habits atrocious, but we are also bathing our bodies in all kinds of cancer-causing chemicals every day. The shampoos and conditioners, soaps, laundry detergents, and even SUNSCREEN are toxic to our bodies, yet we don’t realize it. Cosmetic companies along with other big manufacturers are not required to disclose all that is in our personal care products. There is a website called Skin Deep that was developed by the Environmental Working Group that has a database of many popular cosmetics and personal care items. I urge you to go and take a look. As you do, you can find products that are less toxic and use them instead. You will notice a difference in your energy levels as time goes by just by making this one simple switch.
I read an article by Natural News today that gave some simple health advice. First, avoid putting toxins on your skin/hair/nails when you can. Second, instead of avoiding foods you know you shouldn’t eat, vow to eat three whole servings of raw fruit, one serving one hour before each meal. By doing this, you will automatically eat a little less and displace some of that nasty stuff that you would have ate. I have one other personal suggestion that I am passionate about because of how it makes me feel: every day, take a serving of wheatgrass with your vitamins. This wonder food lowers the acidity of your blood, cures ulcers, prevents cancer, and makes your energy levels skyrocket!!!!
