A Good Exercise Routine

Do you get enough exercise? This time of year, it’s hard to squeeze in those precious minutes at the gym. Do you know what happens when you don’t exercise? We compromise our health.

Exercise is vital to your health. You can slash your risk of disease and obesity by 99% if you are on a good exercise and diet regimen. Yes, there are challenges, but overall someone who exercises is always better off than someone who doesn’t. So..where do you start? Sometimes that is the million dollar question. There are many of us that had it easy for a lot of years and didn’t really need to exercise. Then, as life goes on, our bodies change. Then…pretty soon, we find ourselves in need of some fat burning intervention!

Here’s the good news. As far as exercise is concerned, the best exercise for you is the exercise that you DO CONSISTENTLY. It really doesn’t matter what type! If you get into a habit of working up a sweat 3-5 times a week, then you are going to get into better shape and slash your risk of disease and obesity. Once you get into the habit, then you can switch it up and really try to get in fantastic shape. But..that first step, really, shouldn’t be clouded with worry over ‘what to do’. The secret is to just show up at the gym. Stay there for an hour and sweat, and burn the fat.

Once you have done that consistently for about three weeks, a good habit will be built. At that point, ask for ideas, or tune in right here for exercise tips. Below is a workout schedule that my husband and I, who are personal trainers, like to recommend for folks that have started out and are looking to go to that next step.

Day 1-10 minutes of stretching, 20 minutes of cardio, then 30 minutes of Weight exercises focusing on the arms and back muscles

Day 2-45 minutes of cardio

Day 3-Rest

Day 4-10 minutes of stretching, 20 minutes of cardio, 30 minutes of weights concentrating on the leg muscles

Day 5-45 minutes of cardio

Day 6-Rest

Day 7-10 minutes of stretching, 20 minutes of cardio, 30 minutes of weights concentrating on abs, shoulders, and chest.
