When starting a fitness routine, sometimes it can be confusing knowing where to start. Walking into the gym for the first time, looking at all that different equipment can be a bit intimidating for those of us that aren’t gym rats. Thankfully, we are just like you and we understand that not everyone will instinctively know where to start their fitness routine. Our personal trainers have battled with weight loss, starting at ground zero and working up. It’s a journey for sure, but a successful one if you have the right tools. And, you can trust us to treat you right.
Overall fitness can be defined as the level of body functioning that you achieve through various forms of exercise. Cardiovascular exercise, like walking or running on a treadmill, is important for fat loss and also to build cardiovascular endurance. Many people think it ends there, meaning that if they run on a treadmill that’s all they need to do to lose weight. Unfortunately for most, if they stop there they will not reap the full benefit of total body health. Flexibility training and weight training are crucial for long term weight loss and fitness because they build lean body mass (muscle) and help to avoid injury by building strength. When it comes to weight and flexibility training, the majority of us aren’t really sure where to start, and this is where personal training can help.
Sometimes, it’s more about being accountable to someone than it is actual knowledge. We understand this, too, and if it’s required our trainers are happy to call and encourage our personal training clients to keep them on task and on schedule with their workout routines. After a while, it becomes second nature and our clients are able to achieve success without trainers. At that point, the knowledge becomes the client’s knowledge and they are forever better because they have been educated on the proper forms of exercise. When armed with this knowledge, it’s much easier to stick with a routine and feel confident that you are making progress.
Since our personal trainers are also certified nutritionists, during training sessions we can discuss nutrition and keep you on the right track as far as your diet is concerned. Our trainers are firm believers in using what you already have in your fridge and modifying slightly to meet the proper macronutrient profiles. The only added dietary items that are necessary are a good whey protein product and possibly some supplements to accellerate fat loss until clients arrive at their desired weight. There are a million awesome supplements out there that you could buy, but over the long term a lot of it can get expensive and many people don’t stick to regimes for that very reason. Of course, if it’s requested, we have a wealth of information on many really great products, and partnerships with other experts if we don’t have the answers to your most difficult questions.
